that is quite sad to me. But gee, that photo, how would I know if I had seen one? Pretty Sure Mr THompson didnt intend to have it be so blurred.....I have quite a few moorhens that look like this....

I don't know the story behind the photograph or which Paul Thompson took it. It has the look of being an enlargement of a small part of the original. I presume people knew one existed and were trying to observe it and this is the best picture that could be got. I stole this from the BBC site but thought it right to credit the photographer as they did.
