The offshore radio station RNI provided a soundtrack to my life in the early 70s. (I used to listen until the 2am closedown, earpiece in my ear, in bed every night). However I only caught the end of the broadcast which took place 40 years ago and is featured on The Pirate Hall of Fame this month.
Probably a good thing I missed the beginning of the attempted boarding of the Mebo II, there was no telephone at home. I would have been trying to place an international call to Holland or Switzerland from a call box round the corner using my 2/6 pocket money.
